Established by Dr. Mel Stewart of Bethel College in 1993, the International University Connection has been involved in various initiatives designed to make the Christian option accessible in the arena of the Academy worldwide, through symposia, brief lecture series, and publications.  The Society of Christian Philosophers (SCP) has been enlisted in some of these tasks in a very enthusiastic way, as have some churches and individuals.
Beliefs

Beliefs

We firmly believe in the basic truths of the Christian faith as expressed in Holy Scripture and summarized in the central creeds and confessions: God is a Trinity, He created the heavens and the earth, humans are created in His image, a fall took place, Christ died as a substitute for the sins of the world and was raised again, through faith and repentance any individual can become a child of God, Christ is coming again in a personal, visible return to raise all believers to everlasting life.

Mission

Mission

To present the Christian option in the Academy worldwide, wherever the invitation is extended, with the conviction that we are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes.  We are desirous of presenting as strong a case for Christianity as we can through inviting top Christian scholars also interested in outreach via conferences, publication of Christian scholarship in dialogue with other members of the Academy, etc.

Connections

Immediate Projects

Immediate Projects

  1. China-Western Symposium VI, Xiamen University, Xiamen, China, needs at least $15,000.00 per yr.*  It has been strongly recommended by members of the Board that funds also be raised for travel for the presenters, since a number of presenters from the west have covered their air travel "out of pocket" numerous times.  Please contact Mr. Stewart ASAP, to let him know whether you intend to give and what amount, so that the goal can be reached by the end of March and confirmation be sent to Xiamen University.  Funds need not be sent to IUC c/o Global Horizons until some time in August, that year.*
  2. Philosophy of religion anthology translation/publication, $4,000.00, by October, that year.
  3. Funds for teaching appointment at Peking University, Fall term, Mel & Donna Stewart, needed, $10,000.00 per yr., plus an additional $2,000.00 per yr. for travel for 2 to Beijing.*

*Not a solicitation for funds, but for prayer.
